If on a later visit the browser returns a previously saved cookie to the server, the provider has the ability to associate the user's current visit with the previous visits to support servicing its own content.
Purpose of data controlling: user identification, differentiation of users, identification of the current session of the users, storage of user provided data, prevention of data loss, tracking of users, web analytics measurements.
Legal basis for data controlling: the controller has a legitimate interest in identifying and tailoring users [Article 6 (1) point f, GDPR].
The range of managed data: user’s name, email, date, time, IP address.
Data preservation: Cookies are stored on the device no later than the expiration date of their validity or their manual removal.
User can delete cookies from his/her own device or disable the use of cookies in the browser. Usually, one can disable cookies in the Tools/Options menu of your browsers under the Privacy/History/Custom Settings menu.
The cookie is an alphanumeric data set sent by the web server and stored on the user's device and stored for a predetermined period of validity. The use of cookies allows the website provider to store some of the visitor's data, preferences set on the website, and then retrieve it from the browser by the server. Cookies act as a kind of label that allows the website to recognize the visitor returning to the page and store user preferences. During a website visit, the user's browser might return a cookie that has been previously saved, the originating service provider may associate the current visit with a previous one. Since cookies are associated with a single domain, providers are allowed to get and see their own data stored during previous visits to the specific domain. Cookies in themselves are not able to identify the user but are only suitable for recognizing the visitor's device.
